So! Here it is! New Leaf Saga episode five!
As many may have noticed by now, I'm really starting to develop the core themes/morals I have planned out for this series. 1. Be nice. 2. Don't cheat. 3. Make friends. And 4. Moderate play time. In retrospect, my goal with this series is not to make a cartoon about Maplestory only, but instead a cartoon about how we interact/behave online.
So what does this episode teach us? Simple. Don't be a prick. It's amazing how many people call themselves friends online and off, and then do such mean stuff to each other. Especially online, sarcastic statements can quickly turn into mean jabs. The lesson, be nice. Always.
Special thanks go out to Ian and Kimlinh for lending me their voices. I'm gonna try and write them back in at some point. They did a great job being mean =)

ReplyDeleteGreat job on the episode. If I can make a suggestion people in general don't like getting lectured and the whole online community tends to be like that. Perhaps it can be brought a little more subtle. Perhaps put a few more jokes in it, cause I really like the series for their humor. This is just a suggestion really. I think your work is great and I like your style. Hopefully you'll teach people to be more kind in the game(s).
ReplyDeleteSorry Marin. This last episode came down a little hard on the "After-school Special" side. The hardest thing about making these are balancing the jokes, with the morals, with the story plot elements. The next episode will be more jokes. Promise.
ReplyDeleteAs for Jackson, I'm not sure if I will ever explain that. Just assume it happened a while ago, and they don't like each other because of it.
I see you replied to me. I feel honoured. I knew the best way to give you feedback was to go to your blog. Youtube tends to have too many comments. I know it's very hard to balance it all out. Like in the first episode how the girl started hitting those '1337' guys was hilarious and it's also true. People tend to act like jerks. I still play maple a little bit but I really need to get going with my life. When I look at how long it takes to get just 1 level, it's 2 hours! I feel like I can spend my time better than holding down a button for 2 hours straight. The reason I did not quit is because I have a true friend on there. It's the community that makes the game enjoyable. So I definately support your message. I'm looking forward to it.
